With the summer sun shining and the BBQ spirit starting to gain pace again we are going to be taking a look at our favourite alcohol free beers.

Choosing a beer to drink on a wonderful summers day can be a different experience from selecting a standard ‘cooking beer’. With that in mind we will start our search with what many alcohol free drinkers consider to be the Rolls Royce of beers – Erdinger Alkoholfrei.

On uncapping the classic aroma of white beer was soon evident. It was not too lively in the bottle, but came alive when poured. You need a glass that is happy to accommodate the 500ml and the resulting head.

The rich colour was matched by a rich delightful flavour, which I am glad to say worked amazingly well with BBQ food. Others that tried it were surprised to find that it was alcohol free, which is always a good thing.

I must admit that I was expecting a lot from alcohol free Erdinger as I had heard good things about it. I am very pleased to say that it lived up to, and exceeded my expectations.

It has made it on to my regular list. Will it stay there though? Well, we have a few more beers, lagers and white beers to review and will also be doing a group test to find the perfect summer beer.
