Quite a number of people who sampled Bavaria WIT alcohol free beer in our review were very taken by it, so I decided the next step should be to test its standard lager cousin.
I must say that this is really not my taste. It has an immediate bitter bite followed by an almost sickly aftertaste. It feels slightly over-gassed, even at the very cold temperatures I was serving it at. I was really hoping that I would like it because the WIT has been such a hit in my house. Sadly there are better non alcoholic beers on the market, but as ever, your taste may be more in tune with this than mine.
It has a nice look about it and thankfully does not have the language-fest back label of the WIT (not that this really matters, just being picky here).
Is it worth a try? Well it has some good point which there are no getting away from. Firstly it is totally alcohol free beer, so if 0.0% is your thing then you are a little short of options and Bavaria is filling the gap. Secondly it is available almost everywhere it seems, so it is never far from reach if you need a cold one. Last but not least, it is cheap which makes it a much better quality option than Kaliber.

Alcohol Free Review

I must say that our tastes obviously vary as I’ve had the Bavaria – easily found in our local Morrisons – and been very happy with it, maybe my tastes are very unrefined or I’m easily pleased! Overall, compared to the other easily [supermarket] available low/no alcohol beers/lagers, this came out very well. It smells and tastes like lager – job done
Hi Moira,
Thanks for adding your comment. It is great to get the opinions of others, the more tasters who comment, the more valuable the review is to the community.
I agree with Moira, I love it and I know my alcohol!
I think it tastes just like lager and is nice and hoppy tasting. It is quite gassy but I quite like that. I think it is the best thing I have found in a long while. I have been searching for a decent alcohol free lager during my pregnancy as the wines I have tried are rubbish. I can’t rate this lager/beer highly enough, I wonder if it really is alcohol free it is so good. Regarding the reference to Kaliber you can’t compare. It is not just the price that is better, Kaliber is awful, very gassy and artificial. This Bavaria 0% is just wonderful
try the Bavaria regular malt it’s really good full of flavour
Agree wit Dave. The Bavaria Regular Malt 0.0% is fantastic. Best alcohol free beer by a mile!
ITS great when freeezing cold on a hot day.
tescos are selling it 4x bottles for £1 yes a quid.
every little helps.
enjoy
Tesco are indeed selling it for £1 for 4 bottles. Incredible value. I had tried the Bavaria Malt before and I was very impressed with that, but Bavaria Wit is the best non-alcohol beer I have EVER tasted. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
I tried Erdingher Wit and it was appallingly bad. As bad as Kaliber or Barbican- honestly!!!
Go buy and try Bavaria Wit. It is in a completely different league. My friends who do drink alcohol could not believe that it was not the real thing. 5 Stars, give it an Oscar, a knighthood- it deserves it!
Thanks all, well spotted. It seems the cans are on offer too. We have updated the ‘Alcohol free beer of the day’ offer.
Just bought 8 cans for £1.99 at Aldi, yet to try it but at an all day BBQ tomorrow so I’m sure I’ll get an opportunity seen as I’m driving! THe lady in the store said her pragnant friend said it was lovely and just like the real thing, good enough review for me to try it.
I’ve just tried a can of Bavaria 0.0% ‘Premium Regular’ (is that the same as ‘Regular Malt’ or is it another variety?). It was simply disgusting. It tastes like the water you get in a tin of sweetcorn. I even checked the sell-by date to make sure it wasn’t off. Good ’til 2013 apparently. Not!
Just had my first Bavaria 0% and I was really impressed. Really nice lager taste and texture. 4 bottles in Asda £1.57. Great Stuff
Bavaria Premium Original is currently on offer in Morrissons. 8 cans for £1.49.
Tastes just like lager if chilled. Don’t drink it warm if u can help it!
My favourite is San Miguel alcohol free beer. I’ve tried a whole range of others and I find this to be the best. It has to be well chilled, though.
